The HPAS Prelims Exam is a qualifying exam for the HPAS Mains Exam. The exam will be conducted in two phases: the Preliminary Exam and the Mains Exam. The Preliminary Exam will be an objective type exam, while the Mains Exam will be a descriptive type exam.
The Preliminary Exam will consist of two papers: Paper I and Paper II. Paper I will be a general knowledge paper, while Paper II will be a subject-specific paper. The subject-specific paper will be based on the candidate's chosen optional subject.
The cut-off for the Preliminary Exam is expected to be around 60%. The candidates who qualify for the Preliminary Exam will be eligible to appear for the Mains Exam.
The Mains Exam will consist of five papers: Paper I, Paper II, Paper III, Paper IV, and Paper V. Paper I will be a general knowledge paper, while Paper II will be an essay paper. Paper III will be a subject-specific paper, while Paper IV will be a law paper. Paper V will be a personality test.
The cut-off for the Mains Exam is expected to be around 65%. The candidates who qualify for the Mains Exam will be called for an interview. The interview will be conducted by a panel of experts.
The final selection will be based on the candidate's performance in the Preliminary Exam, Mains Exam, and Interview.
